In Resident Evil 4 Remake, you can buy a lot of things from the Merchant, but some of them are a lot more useful than others.
When it came out for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005, Resident Evil 4 was a huge break from the rest of the series. One of the most unique things it added was a store where players could buy items and upgrade their weapons. The mysterious Merchant, who didn’t have a name, ran this store.
In Resident Evil 4, he was one of the most memorable characters because of how hard he tried to sell things to make Leon happy. The same is true of the remake. The Merchant sells many things, but some of them are much more useful than others. This doesn’t include upgrades to weapons, which are a whole different ball game.
Case Upgrades
In all of the Resident Evil games, there has always been a way to store items. Resident Evil 4 changed that by giving Leon a suitcase that could hold all of his items and make them easy to get to. Also, important items no longer took up space in the inventory. Even so, this made it hard to keep everything in order, which is why suitcases got better.
In the remake, these upgrades are back and should be bought as soon as they show up, even though save points now have a new place to store things. In the Resident Evil 4 remake, charms can also be put on cases, but the Merchant doesn’t sell them.
Bolt Thrower
In the remake, the Bolt Thrower is a new weapon. It is a type of crossbow that shoots arrows or bolts. Before you improve it, it’s a slow weapon to use and reload. But the ammo can be used more than once, which makes it very valuable in the early hours when there isn’t much ammo.
Players can also attach mines to bolts, which is helpful when fighting bosses or large groups of regular enemies. So, players should also make sure to get the recipe from the Merchant for making mines and bolts.
Blacktail
The only pistol a player needs to buy from the Merchant is the Blacktail gun. Luis also uses a pistol called the Red9, which looks cool but isn’t as strong as the Blacktail. Once it’s fully upgraded, this dog can fire rounds like there’s no tomorrow.
There is one more piece of advice about pistols. Sentinel Nine is the name of a DLC gun. When people buy the Resident Evil 4 remake, they should get the Sentinel Nine because it will keep them busy until the Blacktail is ready. For the Sentinel Nine, $2 is a great deal.
Stingray
Players shouldn’t buy the first rifle from the Merchant, even though it will be useful. The SR M1903 is not needed at all. As soon as the Stingray is available, things will get more chaotic in battle.
At some point, you’ll need a long-range weapon to kill enemies cleanly from afar, especially if Ashley gets taken. Players should also not use the SR M1903, which is a different gun but uses the same ammunition. The Stingray is one of the best rifles that the Merchant can make.
All Shotguns
In the Resident Evil 4 remake, the first shotgun, the W-870, can be found in the first village. It’s a great way to get a free weapon. If a player gets the W-870 in the village, they can buy the Riot Gun, which is the first shotgun they can buy. Compared to the W-870, it’s a bit faster and packs a bigger punch.
But the Striker is the best shotgun that the Merchant sells in general. This thing looks like a Tommy Gun, which is also in Happy Wheels game, but it is actually a shotgun. Once a player buys a new shotgun, they can sell the old one and move on to the next level.
All Magnums
Players should also buy the two magnum pistols that the Merchant sells on a regular basis. The Broken Butterfly revolver will be the first. This dog will definitely kill enemies and bosses as well.
Because of this, the magnum is one of the most respected types of weapons in the series. In the remake of Resident Evil 4, the second magnum is called the Killer7. This is a reference to another Capcom game with the same name, and it is just as dangerous as it sounds.
Body Armor
The Merchant’s shop will eventually be able to sell body armor. It will keep Leon from getting hurt, but the Body Armor will get hurt, just like the Combat Knife does in the Resident Evil 4 remake. Also, it’s cool that Leon’s outfit will change because the armor will go over his regular shirt.
When players go to the shop, they need to remember to check the Body Armor’s durability meter. They should always be ready to pay a little gold to keep Leon safe in battle. It won’t cost much.
Spinel Items
In the original game, players could sell the Merchant low-level gems like spinels. Spinels are back in the new version of Resident Evil 4, but they are used in a different way. The Merchant has a separate trade menu where players can use Spinel gems to buy rare items.
The Laser Sight, which can be added to the Sentinel Nine pistol, and the Yellow Herb are two of the best ones to get right away. The Laser Sight will make the chosen pistol more accurate, and when mixed with the Yellow Herb, it can improve Leon’s health.
The new version of Resident Evil 4 came out on March 24, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.
